Out of Body

Out of Body is a duet for vocal sample libraries. Nathan and Tanner each play instruments made from samples of their own voices. The piece explores the relationship between the voice and the body—both are present and there is an obvious connection between the two. Yet, the voices being heard belong to the histories of the bodies on stage rather than their present. The voice–body is cleaved into its components and the components cleave to one another to form something which is not quite the same as the original.
