Division

Division is an exploration of divisive sound methods with an emphasis on those that relate to granular synthesis. In granular synthesis, a sound is partitioned into smaller elements called grains. These grains are then subject to a variety of transformation methods such as re-pitching, stretching, compressing, filtering, and window shaping, among many others. In this composition, granular events are realized through software and experimental vocal techniques articulated by the members of Chordas. The resulting sounds and textures reveal the expressive quality of these culminated granular individuations.
